An excerpt from my diary.

May 26th

There is no sheet on my mattress; my room is too hot.

I am tired, my eyes burn from exhaustion but I cannot sleep.

A spoonful of peanut butter usually does the trick.

I’m awake night after night.

Or keeps me up longer wanting more.

My room is too hot and the air is too dry.

Thoughts dance around my head- Words bump corners.

As sleep takes me I lose all my cares in the world. Errands to run vanish before me.

Sleeping dust burns my eyes.

I shut them.

                  I open them.

I cannot sleep.
