writing prompt II: between 2 tongues

Writing Prompt Two

Beginners and seasoned writers welcome. Below you will find your second prompt.

Prompts may be completed in any language.

  • In one language, write a poem about misunderstandings. Now, directly translate that poem into a second language of which you are fluent. How has the poem changed? What remains the same and what has blossomed into something new?

Sit with this prompt for as long as you need. While you write consider intention and translation. Below you will find today’s exercise *roughly* translated into 6 different languages. I invite you to complete the same translation into your preferred second language. What has changed in this new translation?

The Art of Translation

In one language, write a poem about misunderstandings. Now, directly translate that poem in a second language in which you are fluent. How has the poem changed? What remains the same and what has blossomed into something new?

Nan yon lang, ekri yon powèm sou enkonpreyansyon.
